SCHOOL GROUP ACTIVITY PROGRAMS

All activities promote safety, goal setting, responsibility, self-esteem, confidence, leadership, challenges and adventure!

Surf Lessons -1.5/ 2 hours

We offer our Surf lessons to school groups in Term 4, Term 1 & Term 2 of the school year. our surf lessons teach the basics for students that have never surfed before, guiding them through the basics of standing up on the board, surf etiquette and surf safety. We can also cater for those students that are more competent surfers and want to burn some energy riding the waves! All of our surf lessons are taught by qualified surf coaches and competent Surf lifesavers. We cover general and local surf safety in all of our surf lesson programs regardless of ability.

Ideal for all secondary school aged students and can be tailored to suit specific needs as required.

Sea Kayaking- Seal Colony Tour -2 hours

Like surfing, we also offer our Seal Kayaking Tour to school groups which is the same as our public kayaking tour- to the Marengo Marine Sanctuary to visit the local Seal Colony. This tour is more educational and allows students to get up close and personal with nature. This activity is very popular amongst Outdoor Education classes/ camps – We recommend this for Year 11 & 12 Students only due to the nature of the activity and physical stamina required. Please note that this is also a very weather dependant activity and could be cancelled last minute due to unsafe conditions. Please discuss alternative, plan B options with us at time of booking in the case of unfavourable conditions on the day.

River Kayaking

For school groups we also offer kayaking activities in the river which can be either in the Barham River (Apollo Bay) or in the Aire River (Heritage listed river within the Great Otway National Park in the middle of the Great Ocean walk). Both of these river activities can be tailored to suit any group of students and tailored for any camp learning outcome whether it is educational, physical, learning a new skill, group bonding or just a fun activity. The Aire River location is popular with school groups undertaking the Great Ocean Walk as a good half way, relaxing activity to break up the trip and is right next to the camp ground. This activity is suited to all secondary aged school groups. Please discuss your camp objectives with us at the time of booking so that we can tailor the session to suit.

The Outdoor ED Kayaking Package

Our Outdoor Ed kayaking package consists of three different kayaking sessions in three different locations and is designed to compliment parts of the VCE Outdoor Ed curriculum. The Package consists of our seal kayaking tour (eco tourism and recreational activity within a marine sanctuary), The Barham River (starting from the beach winding past a conservation area into farmland) and kayaking in the Aire River (heritage listed for natural and cultural significance). This package can be conducted over a couple of days and tailored to suit the groups requirements.

Whilst the above activities are our main offerings to school groups, we can also provide and facilitate other activities upon request such as Snorkelling, Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP’s), Lifeguarding, Hiking. In addition to our own offerings, we have a network of other local providers that we can arrange as well to accomodate other activities for your next school camp.
